About Salters Hire

Salters was established in the 1940's by Athol Salter who was a catering entrepreneur in Hobart. Athol pioneered the event hire industry in Tasmania assisting in the catering of large events and dinners. After nearly 50 years of ownership, Athol handed over the ownership to the Lyons family who introduced large scale marquee structures to Tasmania which have been a staple in events across the state. The Nation family acquired Salters in the 2017 and have grown the business to have the largest range of marquees and hire furniture in Tasmania.

Safety, Compliance & Professional Standards

Salters Hire is committed to the highest safety and compliance standards, ensuring every event is executed with precision and care. We hold current insurance policies for Workers Compensation, Public Liability, Goods in Transit, Land, Equipment and Contents along with compliance certifications for all structures in accordance with Tasmanian building regulations.

Our team adheres to strict safety protocols, including:

  • All structures comply with the State Building Code and all are covered by a Form 55.

  • Certified and regularly maintained event structures.

  • Current White Card, Working at Heights and Working with Children accreditation for staff.

  • All installs, deliveries and collections are recorded in our digital safety system.

  • An active Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS).

  • A rigorous safety system which is monitored on a daily basis.

  • Membership with industry bodies such as the Hire & Rental Industry Association (HRIA), Destination Southern Tasmania (DST) and Business Events Tasmania (BET).
