Storeperson & Leading Hand (60/40 role) – North

Key Duties & Tasks
The Leading Hand is required to perform the following duties from time to time as directed by the Northern Operations Manager or the State Operations Manager or their representative:
- Lead teams/people as required;
- Lead & co-ordinate warehousing operations;
- Load and perform customer deliveries (local and statewide);
- Loading and unloading of goods into vehicles, either owned by Salters or their customers;
- Management of the general cleaning of equipment and hire items such as chairs, glasses, flooring, tables;
- Set-up of various equipment onsite at Salters clients premises;
- Operate machinery as required;
- To assist in the erection of marquees, flooring and other items as required;
- General office duties;
- Picking and packing customer orders;
- Counting returned orders;
- Management of stocktaking activities from time to time;
- General maintenance of property and hire equipment;
- Performing customer service activities both face to face, telephone and email;
- General warehousing and store operations tasks;
Plus any other requirements as directed by Salters Hire.
Essential Qualifications, Licences, Accreditations, Certificates, Registrations
- Current Medium Rigid Truck licence*
- Current Forklift licence*
- Current White Card*
- Working with Vulnerable People Card*
- Undertake a National Police Check if required*
*or unrestricted ability to obtain.
Experience in the event hire industry would be an advantage.
Essential Environmental / Physical Requirements
- Be physically capable of loading and unloading trucks/vehicles.
- Be physically capable of lifting odd shaped and weighted goods.
- Be physically capable of erecting marquees as part of a crew environment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Pass a drug and alcohol test from time to time.
- Observe smoke free environments and adhere to smoking in designated breaks.
Key Result Areas
- Be organised and demonstrate a willingness to ‘find a better way’.
- Load/unload trucks/vehicles with care ensuring no damage to the load or vehicle.
- Checking vehicle load to ensure adherence to customer order/picking slip.
- When working in a team/crew onsite or in the warehouse, move with efficiency minimising downtime.
- When working onsite with a crew, be aware of your behaviour and it’s negative and positive impact Salters Hires reputation.
- Maintain clean vehicles.
- Maintain clean and safe warehouse space, area swept and free of trip hazards.
- All hire goods off the floor, ‘drop zone’ clear efficiently and in their allocated position in the warehouse.
- Maintain a clean and presentable standard of appearance, including clean issued uniforms, trimmed facial hair.
- Observe workflow by referring to the WIP board when assigned tasks/job complete.
- When leading crews, work within expected completion timeframes.
- Perform customer deliveries local and statewide. Ensuring such items are clean and in working order prior to delivery.
- The efficient set-up of marquees, flooring and other hire items as required.
- Safely operate machinery.
- Clean and maintain hire property to the standards demanded by Salters Hire customers.
- Ensuring returning hire goods are either placed away clean and damage free or placed in the appropriate zone for cleaning.
- Develop efficient warehousing practices.
- Any damage identified onsite is to be documented immediately using a mobile phone camera and reported to the Northern Operations Manager.
